Clustering of Composite Objects for CAD Databases
نویسندگان
چکیده
Composite objects are descriptions of collections of components which themselves can be collections of their subcomponents. Efficient storage structuring and fast retrieval of the composite objects are essential to computer aided design applications of database management systems. This paper introduces two clustering methods: a structural clustering and a function-propagation clustering, in which all components of a category are clustered into an equivalent object cluster. The structural clustering is an extention of the component aggregation method and the function-propagation clustering is an extention of the functional clustering method. These two clustering techniques partition the database into meaningful and application-oriented clusters. Several clustering methods are compared to demonstrate the performance enhancement when composite objects are organized according to our clustering methods.

Shape-based Clustering Of Enterprise CAD Databases
Cluster analysis is a primary data mining method for knowledge discovery in spatial databases, where, the goal is to find ‘natural’ groups in a dataset based on a similarity or dissimilarity function for pairs of objects. With the number and size of spatial databases in various domains growing rapidly over the last couple of decades, methods for automated knowledge discovery in these datasets i...
متن کاملHierarchical Model-Based Clustering for Relational Data
Relational data mining deals with datasets containing multiple types of objects and relationships that are presented in relational formats, e.g. relational databases that have multiple tables. This paper proposes a propositional hierarchical model-based method for clustering relational data. We first define an object-relational star schema to model composite objects, and present a method of fla...
متن کاملComparing Model-based Versus K-means Clustering for the Planar Shapes
In some fields, there is an interest in distinguishing different geometrical objects from each other. A field of research that studies the objects from a statistical point of view, provided they are invariant under translation, rotation and scaling effects, is known as the statistical shape analysis. Having some objects that are registered using key points on the outline...
متن کاملA Clustering Approach by SSPCO Optimization Algorithm Based on Chaotic Initial Population
Assigning a set of objects to groups such that objects in one group or cluster are more similar to each other than the other clusters’ objects is the main task of clustering analysis. SSPCO optimization algorithm is anew optimization algorithm that is inspired by the behavior of a type of bird called see-see partridge. One of the things that smart algorithms are applied to solve is the problem ...
متن کاملClustering Techniques for Databases of Cad Models
Computer-Aided Design data and Solid Models are of immense importance across the full spectrum of engineering disciplines. Current industrial estimates point to the existence of over 30 billion CAD models in the world, with increasing numbers of them including 3D solid models. While the database and data mining communities have made great strides in management of image, audio and video media, l...
